Fall

I just love Fall.... need to wake up and motivate myself to make fall color quilts and my next project should be... traditional blocks quilt. Dark blue and white or off white blocks?. The fall colors might have to wait or be done between projects. Any suggestion what to do? Hopefully a queen size for my bed. I am thinking of buying a new bed with new mattress. My old one is an iron frame, its beautiful but very uncomfortable to lean back while reading in bed. Did I tell you all how much I love my kindle? Love it. Done reading Molokai and Honolulu. Now reading hm... well, nothing is motivating me but the Dog days by John Katz. Its funny, very funny actually. I love his donkeys, especially Carol and now Jesus ( Spanish pronunciation). He is a good and light writter, its like reading his diary. I think I am going to look for the old classics to read, like Killing a Mockingbird, the Tales of Two Cities etc. Someone suggested Lonesome Dove. Hm... I wonder if they have them in Kindle store.

ITS HERE

My Kindle DX arrived today, oh joy! And all my books that I pre purchased, all there.
Oh joy. Hope I won't be disappointed. I am sure I won't. I can't. Too expensive to not enjoy it. I wonder if I can purchase some quilting books?

Just the cover

Today the cover for my kindle just arrived. What a pain to wait so long. I should have just pay the damn $ 8 extra to get it deliver express way.
Just finish reading MOLOKA'I. Its good with some critics, like he could easily write 3 books from just expanding MOLOKA'I itself and let Racheal have all the feeling and develop each chapter of her life instead of going through hers in full speed. Its not going to hurt less from going faster through her journey. I wish he would expand her stages of life in a more normal pace. Too many years missing in wanting to know her better.

Are we there yet

Cannot wait until my Kindle DX gets here. I thought about reasons that I deserve this new toy. Well, I don't have one. I work so hard and sometimes I feel I don't do enough. So instead of eating chocolate, I read my CHOCO LATTE. That's it the name of my soon to be here Kindle. Any feedback what book that I should download? I am still finishing my MOLOKA'I and it okay, not great. Maybe I have to wait until the end?
Good grief. I feel like Charlie Brown. I even start writing my own book in my mind how a story should be? I think I am going to stop buying romance or romantic novel written by men. They don't go deep enough with the emotional aspect of relationships. I felt in MOLOKA'I, Racheal saga was told to the point, everything was explain like a manual, to the point! Her feeling was clear TO THE POINT, solutions TO THE POINT. Too short, lack of substance. I know Racheal emotions are deeper and more profound. Give that girl some woman feelings, for GOD sake. I did not enjoy the first" Women Murder Club" First To Die by James Patterson. It was gruesome and very violent.

Kindle DX

I cracked. I just bought another expensive toy. I could not pass it. All the good books coming out and all the files I can actually transfer and not having to carry all that stuff around me all the time. AND.... a nice tax write off. Since I can keep all my patients PDF files regarding their cases. Its not here yet, so I will keep you updated as soon as that wonderful Fedex truck noise break the silence around the corner in my parking lot. I am sure to tell you all the good and the bad, hopefully not bad stuff at all. So many toys, so little time.
Maybe I can download some recipes too or since its PDF ready, I will put all my favorite recipes so I'll have it with me all the time.
So this fall, guess who is working on her days off again.... to pay for her expensive hobbies.
Hey, I have not bought any fabric in a while, so I am better lately...LOL what a bunch of @$#%&**(($*&^&%^@. I just love myself unconditionally, therefore I can anything I desire. See, that how it works. Though are things and things came from an original though. I am a good student of life. I AM A GENIUS, and I APPLY MY WISDOM.

A touch of Holland

Yesterday at our quilt meeting at the show and tell, we do this after every business meeting, I let them peek at my quilt. I was exciting to see how many ooh and ahh I got. That was very nice of them. Very sweet group of ladies and the applause too, twice. I guess the verdict is in, I need to publish the pattern for this quilt. I name it " A Touch of Holland", for my grandparents who are dutch.

Twilight

Is there anything out there to replace my addiction to the Twilight series? I notice that I seem to keep going back to read some of my favorite lines over and over again.
Maybe I should get busy and go back to sewing again and make a quilt base on the twilight drama! . Have not done any major project since I start reading the books. Not enough waking hours to sew, read, hike, keep the house clean, time with the girls (movies, lunch, talk etc) , shopping, work..... you know what I mean? And the poor dog... I don't pay enough attention to her, my precious baby.

Kindle

Should I buy Kindle or do you think is ridiculous how much they want for that stuff. Plus the books... and the cover for that thing. Maybe in a way we are saving tree from being cut down to make paper? People still going to buy books and paperbacks eventhought maybe in 10 years we all going to have Kindles and it would be as normal as carrying a cell phone. Ah my long wishlist keeps getting longer.

Twilight saga

Been having fun reading the twilight saga. I am on my 4Th and last book. What a blast. I turn from a silly Evanovich book to another kind of saga. I like it much better but soon it will end. I delay picking up this series because I thought only young adults with get the story until more and more people were telling me to READ IT..... My 4Th book is more then half read. I am slowing down a bit since I don't wanted to end. Good writing by Stephenie Meyer and I have her new book "the Host" waiting in my bookshelf for me to sink my teeth into it. The sad part and difficult part, I have not visit my sewing room or a quilt shop since I start reading.... maybe I do need to slow down in the reading department. You should see my yard.... very sad looking too. All because a vampire felt in love with a human..... go figure.

New Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum Series

Just finished reading the 15th book of Janet Evanovich. It was disappointing and blah to say the least. The story line has no real focus, nothing scary or dramatic. And the romance, where is the romance between Stephanie and who 's turn is it? Very disappointing. I am not so sure if I am going to continue anticipating the next one. So now going to focus back on quilting. Just purchased a huge table with organizing drawer from IKEA. Actually is in the kitchen department, an small island with 12 drawers, and when I re-visit Bonnie Hunter website, she have one too. I know smart people when I see one....thanks for the site Bonnie. And I am actually try her quilt block behind her by the machine ready to be quilt. Mine is only a block, just wanted to test the colors, orange, rose pink, blue, and dark brown.... came out really nice, very civil war kind of look.

Publishing pattern

I am working on publishing my first quilt pattern.
Hint: its blue and blue and some more blue and a smidge of yellow...Its base on Marti Michell kaleidoscope technique. And very easily done using paper piecing techniques. I am working with the famous Rebecca Ruth Design. Hope she can guide me in the right direction. I am very excited and enthusiastic with this particular journey. Hope you will see my pattern in your favorite quilt stores soon. I don't know how long it takes from the process of writing and testing the pattern to actually sending to the printer and then to the quilt stores. I will keep you posted.

Quilt nine patch and dots

This is my latest un-finished quilt. Bought the kit from Sisters in Centralia, WA. Love the look so much that I actually took the picture of the quilt sample in the store to make sure I got the right arrangement of the blocks. Not quiet done yet. Still waiting for me to finish.

Easy and Fast Bean Soup

My favorite bean soup recipe, I learn from my mother. She use to make them often when we lived in Brazil. Is so simple, your family won't believe that it took you about half an hour to make it. Well, almost half an hour, not counting soaking the beans overnight.

Ingredients needed.

  1. 1 lbs Ground beef or turkey

  2. 2 cups of Pinto beans or 3 cups black bean (soak them for at least 24 hours)

  3. 1 onion

  4. green onions

  5. 3 good size tomatoes (chopped into cubes)

  6. chicken stock/ ready made boullion

  7. smoke sausages, beef or turkey

  8. options: cooked carrott, and or cooked potatoes cubes

Start by soaking the beans overnight or 24 hours prior to cooking. Drain the water before cooking them.

In a pressure cooker , using either cooking oil or olive oil, sauted the onions until they are almost clear, add ground beef and cook them well done. Add the soaked beans, the diced tomatoes and the beef stock or chicken boullions ( you might need two pieces of the bouillion - watch for MSG, most bouillion has MSG, go to your Wholefood stores or local co-op for natural broth with no MSG added ). Put enough water to cover you mix, follow your pressure cooker instructions, some pressure cookers are smaller in size, so watch for the allow amount of liquid. You can always add more liquid later. Close the lid and wait until pressure builds up and let it cook for 25 minutes. Once time is up, turn off and wait until all the pressure is down, open the lid and add chopped green onion and cut small pieces of beef sausages. Serve with cooked rice.
